Tamar and Geoff use a similar approach in helping aspiring singers find their own individual sound. They do this by applying the same technical principles they employ on stage when performing a role, which are based in the bel canto style passed down through generations of singers. This helps everyone discover their own true, unique voice that will then be the most healthy, beautiful, and exciting sound a singer can use in any style.
About Lessons
Lessons vary in length depending on the needs of the client and are offered in 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute periods. Typically, the first half of each lesson will be dedicated to working on specific exercises that are tailored to the needs of each singer to help build endurance, strength, stability, and range of their instrument. The second half is then spent applying these same principles to songs of the client’s interest, and can be in any style that they choose. This makes sure the aspiring singer is not just learning technical principles “in a vacuum”, but rather, they are then able to realize this work in the context of an actual performable piece.
Lessons are offered in-person on UBC's Vancouver campus or online using Zoom or Google Meets. Please contact Tamar and Geoff for any inquires.
